Please remember we are working to a very tight deadline so the starter will stick to the start times as much as possible. All athletes must be ready for the start of their race, as the starter cannot wait for any athletes who are not ready. Please ensure you leave enough time for parking and to find the club tent or team representative who has your vest numbers.
Find attached the final entry list. Can I stress at this point that vest numbers can only be collected on the day by a team official, each official collecting a pack of team numbers must sign and leave a mobile contact number so if there are any problems they can be contacted. Individual numbers will only be given out if there is only one member of a club or age group competing. Please ensure all parents, coaches and athletes are aware of who is collecting the numbers and where they can expect to be found. No spikes indoors please.
Anyone using cameras, videos or any recording equipment must sign in at registration, a coloured sticker will be issued.
I’ve attached a course map but I have been asked to inform you by the Clerk of Course that the start has now been moved closer to the finish point, it will be sign posted on Saturday. Please be aware that the course is subject to change at any point. I will try and keep you informed with any other changes, but as at Wakefield in 2012, when strong winds blew the night before the championships we often have to make last minute changes, so please bear with us.
I am informed only ‘service’ dogs are allowed in the park for health and safety reasons.
There is plenty of parking on hard well drained surfaces, please DO NOT PARK on any road sides it is not necessary and will only cause traffic problems. There is a separate entry road and exit road to Lightwater Valley so there should be no issues as long as everyone uses the vast car park that is available.
There are toilets in the car park and the shopping village and again at the entrance to the park there is a toilet block near the entrance to the Ultimate Ride and we have also booked some portaloos, some of which will be situated near the start and some near registration.
Within Lightwater Valley please stick to the footpaths, there will be high viz signs directing you to the start of the race and to registration. The park is being opened solely for our purpose so there will be no rides open, nor will any athlete or spectator be allowed access to any rides. I have also attached a Lightwater Valley Park Map, if you zoom in you will have a clearer idea of where everything is. Not all toilets marked on their map are open and all food outlets are closed other than the ones listed. There will be hot food and drinks on sale in the shopping village as you enter Lightwater Valley and the team from Lightwater will also be selling sandwiches, soup/chips and hot drinks in The Conservatory.
The race itself is being held within the grounds of The Ultimate ride, I have enclosed a photo, on the day the double doors will be open for all athletes, officials and spectators to gain access.
The club tents can be erected on the grassed areas BEFORE you go through these double doors, there are no areas suitable for tents within The Ultimate. There are no changing or showering facilities I’m afraid so club tents will have to be used. See the Park map.
Registration and presentation are taking place in the Conservatory, this will be signposted but it’s the large building just before the Ultimate ride.
Results will be available for sale at 10p per A4 side, please be patient results can take a while and as soon as they are complete they will be on sale. The results will also be posted on the Northern Athletics Website, and I’ll circulate them too.
Programmes will be available for sale on the day at a cost of only £2.
Lightwater Valley is a beautiful well cared for site so please leave it litter free.
I hope you have all the information you need, but please do not hesitate to ask if you need any more. Fingers crossed for some dry weather! Have a safe journey and we look forward to seeing you on 5th.
Best wishes,
Fiona
