Brian Hall (20/8/1937 - 30/8/2010)

We regret to announce the passing of Brian Hall after a long battle over several years with cancer. Brian was an international athlete on the track and over the country, an organiser of races, an administrator and a determined battler to improve athletic facilities in the Winsford area of Cheshire.

Cross Country League Fixtures

A request to all cross country league secretaries in the Northern Athletics area to please submit your dates for the coming season. Last year we managed to list almost all the cross country leagues dates and venues and we would like to do the same this coming season.

New Endurance Team Manager Required

Due to the recent resignation of Rob Cameron we are looking for enthusiastic, committed people to act as Team Managers for Northern Athletics Cross Country and Road Running Teams.

Endurance Team Manager Steps Down

The Northern Athletics principal Endurance Team Manager Rob Cameron has this week tendered his resignation from the post due to the demands of work and the needs of his family.

Paul Naylor

Following Paul’s funeral, his wife Sandra and family would like to thank all Paul’s friends and colleagues in athletics for all the cards and kind wishes received over the past few weeks. They have also expressed their thanks to all who attended the funeral and contributed to the collection which raised over £1,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support Nurses.

Well done to all our athletes in the recent IAAF Junior & European Champs

Congratulations to all the Northern athletes who took part in the recent IAAF Junior Champs and the European Champs. It was encouraging to see so many athletes from our area performing with such distinction at such a high level.

UKWAL Qualifying Match

UKWAL will be holing their qualifying match on 18 September at Abingdon. Entries are invite from any club wishing to considered for the 2011/12 season, Applications close on Friday 27 August 2010. If more than 8 clubs apply a paper match will be held prior to this fixture.

Northern Athletes at European and IAAF Junior Champs

Northern Athletics sends its best wishes to the following athletes from our region who have been selected to represent GB & Northern Ireland in the coming European Championships July 27-1 August and the IAAF Junior Champs July 19-25

We are sorry to report the death last Monday (5th July)of leading North Eastern Counties Technical Official John Gurney after a long illness. John's funeral takes place at Durham Crematorium on Wednesday, July 14 at 10.30am.
